Bad Boys Collector's Edition (tbc)

From the mighty Simpson/ Bruckheimer production combo, Bad Boys screamed essential viewing for action aficionados. But, while director Michael Bay delivers a slick, hyper, pyrotechnic-filled thriller with some snappy comedy interplay between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, it amounts to less than the sum of its all-too-frenetic parts. Perhaps it's due to that by-the-numbers plot and lazy Eurobaddie...

DVD Extras:

Making Of doc, director's commentary, multi-angle SFX featurette, trailer, gallery, isolated score, music videos, filmographies. There's plenty of goodies here, most notably an explodophile's wet dream in the Making Of and an interesting commentary from Bay. But you've got to wonder why average fare like this gets special treatment, while so many superior movies are doomed to lazy "movie-on-a-disc" transfers....
