Battlefield Earth

1

This catastrophically bad sci-fright falls down on every level. The acting's amateurish, the script a string of clichés and director Roger Christian insists on filming everything at an off-kilter angle. It might be stylish to him, but to the viewer it's just annoying.

DVD Extras:

Audio commentary with director Christian and production designer Patrick Tatopolous, make-up test footage, FX featurette, behind-the-scenes documentary, storyboards, stills, trailer, TV spots, web features. So Battlefield Earth receives Matrix-a-like DVD extras when far better movies are stuck with just a trailer? There's no justice. If there was, Christian's commentary would be one long apology, not the waffle he spouts about how the film is "supposed" to look like a comic book. Even the extras won't convince you this is more than a Z-movie. Need a laugh? Find someone mad enough to buy it, then borrow it...
