Long before the wearisome Dude, Where's My Car? there was Bill (Alex Winters) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) - two spaced-out West-coast dudes with the exuberance of labradors and the brains of goldfish. Needing top marks in history to avoid flunking school, the boys take to a time travelling phone booth to round up real life historical figures for their presentation.

Trailer, photo gallery. Silly and funny without resorting to the gross-out humour that would later splatter the genre, Bill&Ted... is one of the original dumb-ass comedies. It's irreverent but sweet, wide-eyed but knowing, and Reeves' Ted is so stupidly effective that his persona has dogged the actor ever since ("Yo, Dracula dude!"). The lack of extras is totally bogus though.
