Nasty government fanatics led by moustache-twirlingly bad Brit pilot Colonel Cochrane plan to use hi-tech attack/surveillance chopper Blue Thunder to spy on and "control" (ie shoot) the US public.
But brave police pilot Frank Murphy (Roy Scheider) discovers their plot and - with the help of partner Lymangood (Daniel Stern) - sets out to foil it...
DVD Extras:
Filmographies for Scheider, Stern and director John Badham; theatrical trailer.
If you can get past its in-built contradictions (if we're supposed to hate or fear Blue Thunder, then why have they made it look so damn cool?), Blue Thunder is a fairly effective, hard-edged thriller. Which makes the shoddiness of this disc even more annoying.
No director's commentary, no stills and only three filmographies: where's all the info on Malcolm McDowell and Warren Oates? One to leave in the hangar.
