This muddled melodrama comes so early in Cary Grant's career that he takes second billing to Loretta Young. She's a bitter single mum who's bringing her kid up to be equally cynical. But when the lad hits trouble with the law, benevolent young millionaire Cary offers to adopt him. Loretta's having none of this and deploys all her vampish wiles - until a crudely undermotivated change of heart and an oddly abrupt ending.
