Jean-Luc Godard's revolutionary movie is oh-so-French in its style and attitude, but its love for American crime flicks is never far below the surface. Petty crook Michel (Jean-Paul Belmondo) hotwires a car and drives from Marseilles to Paris to tell American student Patricia (Jean Seberg) he's in love with her. Sex, death, loyalty and freedom of spirit all tie together for this coolest of films.
DVD Extras:
Poster artwork, production notes, film stills, theatrical trailer, trailer for US remake, Godard's short film Charlotte Et Son Jules. A quality print and newly translated subtitles freshen up this 40-year-old must-see. The original French trailer brilliantly strips the film down to its essential B-movie elements, while the Godard short, also starring Belmondo, is a bonus. Even the poster shots and animated menus look hip.
