Documentary: A Profile Of Brief Encounter, theatrical trailer, photo gallery, biographies.Often spoofed (and eminently spoofable), this 1946 romantic drama still packs an emotional punch. David Lean's direction is assured, the script (based on co-producer Noël Coward's play, Still Life) is poignant, and the performances are superb - particularly Celia Johnson, who personifies guilt-ridden angst. The disc, with a fine documentary that includes interviews with co-producers Anthony Havelock-Allan and Ronald Neame, has been assembled with care.
