Sam Peckinpah's whacked-out, nihilistic fever-dream proved way too much for audiences in the early '70s, but fully deserves your attention. Mexican crime family patriarch Emilio Fernández offers $1 million for the head of the man who got his daughter pregnant. Alcoholic, degenerate bar singer Warren Oates knows Alfredo Garcia is already dead and travels to retrieve the corpse. Bloody carnage ensues. A twisted morality play imbued with gallows humour of the darkest shade.
