Former documentarian Rodney evans explores the ’30s Harlem Renaissance via ageing poet Bruce Nugent’s (Roger Robinson) contemporary relationship with a young, black, gay poet (Anthony Mackie).
Performances are variable and tone is a tad ‘teachy’, but it’s a worthy piece.
