Cannibal Apocalypse

1

An Italian-made gut-muncher...

Back in the day, New York’s 42nd St grindhouses loved this flick: an Italian-made gut-muncher set in Atlanta and starring Giovanni Lombardo Radice and dependable big lug John Saxon (Enter The Dragon) as ‘Nam vets infected with a rabies-like cannibalism virus.

Serving up a quattro formaggi pizza of trash cinema, director Antonio Margheriti doesn’t skimp on the gory goods: tongues are bitten out, a shotgun blast creates a torso glory hole and a quirky police detective (Wallace Wilkinson) confronts a liver-munching ghoul with a cry of “Oh my God son, put it down!”
