Casino has, rather unfairly, been labelled GoodFellas II by many. Sure, it has Bob De Niro and Joe Pesci in not dissimilar roles, but Casino still rates as a mesmerising investigation of Vegas and the mafia’s domination of the big casinos during the ’70s. Plus, the screenplay, the cinematography, the beats, the funky threads and the ultraviolence are as spot on as ever.
DVD Extras:
Production notes, cast and film-makers notes, theatrical trailer. An exceptional movie, heavily let down by the disappointing lack of extra goodies on offer. But this still demands ownership on DVD, if only because of the fabbo soundtrack and magnificent photography. Scorsese and his team went to an enormous amount of effort to make this - so why short change yourself by watching it on some crappy video cassette?
