Casper Special Edition

3

Hired to exorcise a derelict Gaudi-esque mansion, widowed spectre-therapist Bill Pullman and teenage daughter Christina Ricci move in and attempt to tame the resident ghosts: lonely young Casper and his mean uncles Stinkie, Fatso and Stretch. Handling themes of love and loss, first-time director Brad Silberling's ghostly Cinderella is family-friendly fare with enough star cameos (Eastwood, Gibson, Aykroyd), gags and cultural references to appease adults.

DVD Extras:

For children: games and a Halloween activity book accessed online; spelling fun (!) and an Easter Egg hunt offline. For adults: Silberling's commentary, a trailer, the remnants of a ghostly song-and-dance scene that was deemed too expensive for ILM to create ($3 million) and an engaging 45-minute Making Of doc (they used Esther Williams' pool in the lab scenes).
