Taking its cue from a real-life case, Michael Caton-Jones' film stars Robert De Niro as a dedicated crim-chaser whose No1 suspect in a murder case is his own estranged, druggy son (Spider-Man's James Franco).
This low-key combo of police procedural and family drama works its way from lumbering to lump-in-the-throat, mainly due to a quality cast, with Franco bulking up his rep as a Jimmy Dean for Generation Y. That said, it's sometimes hard to tell whether De Niro's underplaying beautifully or if he just looked at the title and thought "coast".
