Weirdy writer JG Ballard's novel crashes headlong into an adaptation by techno-freak David Cronenberg. The result? It got The Daily Mail up on a predictably high moral horse, calling for the film to be banned. The reality? Beneath all the promotional spouting about crossing the barriers between sex and danger, pleasure and pain, man and machine, there's a cheap porno movie with extra road rage. Cronenberg's done far better with techno-nightmares before.
DVD Extras:
A whole lot of nothing.You'd have thought that with all the tabloid frothing this flick stirred up at the time it was released, someone could have put together a documentary about the controversy. Sadly, you'd be wrong. This is yet another empty DVD, content to supply the film and whack the trailer on as compensation. Let's not fall over ourselves in gratitude here...
