Polanski’s black comedy about criminals taking refuge in a castle doesn’t quite work; it’s strong on atmosphere but weak on plot hooks.
Striking cinematography can’t overcome irritating characters in a film that’s way too long. The extras are decent, including a 2003 Making Of detailing the fraught shoot.
