This improvised LA strip-joint drama from Michael Radford, the Brit director of Il Postino, charts the fortunes of five dancers - ditzy Daryl Hannah, feisty Jennifer Tilly, tortured Sheila Kelley, etc - at the titular club. The actresses reveal passable acting - and pole-dancing - chops, but the clichés are piled on as fast as the clothes are whipped off in a succession of repetitive, drawn-out scenes.
DVD Extras:
Daryl Hannah's hour-long documentary Strip Notes follows her extensive "research" at a real strip club and there's a handful of deleted/alternative scenes. We also get two pretty dull commentaries, one from cast members, the other from director Radford, who barely takes a breath for two hours. The movie's obviously a labour of love for those involved, - everyone else just gets the labour part.
