Desperately Seeking Susan (tbc)

Rosanna Arquette plays bored housewife Roberta, obsessed with the regular personal ads in the paper from someone "desperately seeking" Madonna's streetwise, gum-chewing bad girl of the title. It's amusing enough stuff, with snappy dialogue and even a decent performance from the Material Girl.

Commentary by director Susan Seidelman, producers Sarah Pillsbury and Midge Sanford, alternative ending, theatrical trailer.A trailer with a typically cheesy '80s voice-over and an alternative ending that lasts a whole one minute: not exactly awe-inspiring, and the commentary does little to redeem the package. Despite featuring the most enthusiastic of film executives ever heard, it fails to reveal anything particularly interesting or insightful, and repeatedly descends into idle banter that's out of synch with what's on screen.
