Diary of a Wimpy Kid

A sweet, survival-of-the-fittest highschool tale

Greg (Zachary Gordon) is a recent initiate into the kid-eat-kid world of American middle school.

A miniature smart arse in the Ferris Bueller mould, he’s keen to climb the social ladder, despite the advice of Allen Ginsbergreading, 13-year-old Angie (a typically world-weary Chloë Moretz).

The bogie-based humour and survival-of-the-fittest morality of this book adap make for a trying combo, but Diary Of A Wimpy Kid redeems itself with a rather sweet ending.

Who knew a mother-son dance routine to the Beastie Boys’ ‘intergalactic’ could be so touching?
