For all its moments of almost overwhelming cheese, Die Hard is still the definitive action thriller. Alan Rickman delivers a deliciously ruthless Hollywood debut as the eloquent villain, the one-liners are sharp and the stunts overwhelming.
DVD Extras:
Original theatrical trailer, Making Of featurette, filmography/ biography. The featurette, sadly, is only a five-minute promo with mystifyingly bad picture quality, the menus are decently presented and the filmography's competent. But, aside from the extras, the movie truly deserves to be seen on DVD. The set-pieces were always maltreated on VHS (and cut to shreds on TV), but they look and sound spectacular on your li'l home cinema. Enjoy Die Hard's lobotomised thrills in all their popcorn-munching, Coke-swilling, glory.
