Dinner For Schmucks

2

A comedy remake lacking the wit and zest of the French original

Dinner for Schmucks

Ambitious Tim’s (Paul Rudd) key to promotion at his private equity firm is winning a corporate bullying contest where guests at a dinner party compete to bring the biggest idiot with them.

Luckily, he runs into Barry (Steve Carrell) a mouse taxidermist with zero self-awareness and a toffee-coloured toupee...

Jay roach’s re-hash of 1998’s Le Dîner De Cons lacks its dark bite, cruising instead on a one-note of annoyance that manages to make zach Galifianakis tiresome and squander Jemaine Clement.

Any real wit starts and stops with Barry’s mouse dioramas.
