Domestic Disturbance

Journeyman director Harold Becker fails to stretch John Travolta beyond a placid if likeable performance as Frank Morrison, a smalltown divorcee boatbuilder desperate to protect his son from suspect stepfather Vince Vaughn. The filmmakers never exert themselves enough to work in any complexity, but this just about suffices as a psycho-thriller, largely thanks to Vaughn's menacing presence.
