“This could lead anywhere!” sighs The Magic Roundabout’s Dougal in this surreal spin-off, adapted (from the French original) by Eric Thompson with an anarchic waggishness that bears out that statement tenfold.
The plot sees our hero square off against Buxton the cat and a mysterious Blue Voice (Fenella Fielding) out to take over his garden.
Beyond the charming animation, the main pleasure is Thompson’s barking narration.
The irksome Gallic version is thrown in for carousel completists.
