There’s a ramshackle charm to this ’80s-styled teenage comedy that befits its roots as a John Hughes pitch, worked up to script length by Pineapple Express co-writer Seth Rogen and Kristofor Brown, veteran of producer Judd Apatow’s college sitcom Undeclared. Owen Wilson, fresh from personal calamity, offers his usual guileless goofiness as a good-natured bum, who scams the picked-on teens that hire him as a bodyguard – only to find some scruples. Gentle chuckles and a Lethal Weapon-aping climax are complemented by competent extras.
