Anne Hathaway brings her considerable charm to a seductively sweet riff on the Cinderella fairytale that perkily ticks every box in pre-teen romantic fantasy. She plays Ella, a girl saddled with the curse of obedience thanks to her daffy fairy godmother (Vivica A Fox). Naturally her new stepmother (Joanna Lumley) and stepsisters take advantage of her enchantment, but when put-upon Ella meets dashing Prince Char (Hugh Dancy) things may finally start to go her way...
DVD Extras:
Make no mistake, this bobby-dazzler is aimed squarely at the Barbie fan-club and the extras include a red carpet guide by some Disney pop protégés, a so-so pastel-coloured behind-the-scenes feature fronted by Hathaway and a strangely skittish Dancy, plus a game to help Prince Char escape his fans. It's only during the ebullient, self-deprecating commentary by Hathaway, Dancy and director Tommy O'Haver that those over 12 will be entertained, with the trio revealing some bloopers and hidden jokes.
