Awe-inspiring look at life in Antartica

In documentary mode, Werner Herzog visits Antarctica and finds his people among the freaks and dreamers of the McMurdo Research Station.

From humongous icebergs to “horribly violent” underwater worlds, Herzog imparts an infectious awe at nature’s wild wonder.

The music is obtrusive but his questing spirit of philosophical enquiry at human extremes remains pure. Extras unavailable.
