Equilibrium

2

Kurt Wimmer’s risible sci-fi parable rips off Minority Report, 1984 and The Matrix with such blatant shamelessness you can only applaud his cheek.

Set in a future world where human emotion is forcibly suppressed and “sense offenders” are hunted down and incinerated by black-coated “clerics”, this Orwellian mish-mash hopes its stylish gun kata scenes of pistol-packing martial arts will divert you from its absurd story. They don’t.

DVD Extras:

Flash menus lead to a half-arsed selection of trailers and TV spots, with one disposable featurette thrown in for good (bad?) measure. The best extra is the `Jump To Fight' option, which allows the viewer to only watch the well-choreographed action and skip the plot altogether. Then there's the commentary by Wimmer and producer Lucas Foster, who spend half the time kvetching about budgetary restrictions and studio meddling - - yet somehow manage to bore the pants off you doing it.
