Paper-thin veneers of social commentary quickly peel to expose the cynical, manipulative core in Johannes Roberts’ daft hoodie-horror, in which an after-hours comp is besieged by legions of nameless, disgruntled students.
It’s exquisitely lit (gloomy blues and greys) and sporadically jumpy, but the premise is underdeveloped.
The narrative complexity and psychological terror are on a par with a ghost train.
Worse, the potential for horrific wood-shop slayings, chemistry-lab explosions and accidents involving sharpened sporting equipment goes criminally unexplored.
