Flashback

3

Between them, Dennis Hopper and Kiefer Sutherland have made some shockers, so you should be wary of one that had the reckless temerity to team them up. But Flashback bucks the odds. A fast-paced, comical road movie, it plays to both actors' strengths - in fact, casting Hopper as a '60s radical still avoiding the cops decades later seems so bloody obvious, you wonder why no one did it before. The same logic can be applied to Sutherland. Then renowned for playing bad guys, here he plays the straitlaced federal agent chasing Hopper - - and is so comfortable you wonder why it took him another decade to again don the suit and badge for 24. Factor in some neat set-pieces amid the odd-couple chemistry, and you have a chirpy, enjoyable package.
