Robert Zemeckis' Oscar-winning fable tends to get pasted for its right-wing agenda, but - taken as a sweet, occasionally sickly, modern fairytale - it's largely enjoyable.
DVD Extras:
Commentary with Robert Zemeckis, producer Steve Starkey and production designer Rick Carter, commentary with producer Wendy Finerman, Making Of, four featurettes, photo gallery, screen tests, trailers. You know the bits in Forrest Gump where our gormless hero gets to meet various US political giants? Want to know everything about how this was achieved? Then welcome to talking-head tedium in the featurettes. The commentaries are better, although it's typical of the makers' love for style over content that there's a contribution from the production designer, but bugger all from the writer.
