It's deeply, cripplingly unfashionable to like Four Weddings, but let's face it - - deep down, in places we don't talk about at parties - - we all do. The pitch-perfect profanity, bumbling romanticism and Hugh Grant's floppy-fringed charm remain enduringly, endearingly funny.
DVD Extras:
One thing stands out here: all concerned can't believe their bleeding luck. Curtis and director Mike Newell spend their commentary pinching themselves to check they didn't just dream that their little movie - - with its troubled financing, uppercrust characters and B-list leading man - - became such a hit. It's a delight. The docs impress, too - - both the vintage, on-set one (everyone looking harassed and impoverished) and the 21st-century edition (the same people but slicker, fatter and with better hair). Topping it off come some corking deleted scenes, with Rowan Atkinson's bumbling vicar speech proving funnier than everything he's done since put together.
