Friday The 13th

4

A remix of Halloween and Bay Of Blood that contains little of John Carpenter's artistry or Mario Bava's wicked humour, Friday The 13th does a damned professional job nonetheless. Its solitary target? To scare the brown stuff out of you, as a group of sex-mad teenagers (including Kevin Bacon) are picked off one by one at summer camp. Consistently creepy, it's fitted with the best jump ending in movie history.

DVD Extras:

Both the stitch-job commentary and 20-minute Making Of round up plenty of cast and crew, the main sell being helmer Sean S Cunningham, the main disappointment being the absence of Kevin Bacon. Discussions cover everything from the iconic score to the numerous sequels (just the 10 to date, including Freddy Vs Jason), but large chunks of repetition eventually grind proceedings to a halt.
