John Carpenter wisely decided not to direct this time, but Jamie Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasance return for this 1981 sequel which picks up the action at precisely the place the original left off. Maniac Michael Myers returns for more slasher mayhem in this sluggish, but still gory, outing and original scream queen Curtis gets stuck in with gusto as the body count piles up.
DVD Extras:
Nothing. No Widescreen print, no extras. Zilch. Zip. It's not as startling or fresh as the original but the the blood/ scream ratio remains high and the shocks are frequent. But, sadly, Castle Home Video have failed to bother giving this the full widescreen treatment or add anything else to further aid enjoyment. What you're left with is an entertaining, but nowhere near classic horror film which gains little from its transfer to the DVD format. Crisp images aside, is there any point to releasing discs like these?
