Hannah And Her Sisters

5

As Woody Allen slides into old age and cine-incontinence (he can't stop his movies slipping out, and each one's stinkier than the last), time to remember that as writer-director-actors go, the jazz-obsessed nebbish is only really challenged by Keaton and Chaplin. Here, one of his finest achievements: a funny, moving, honest exploration of the lives of three sisters - - Mia Farrow, Dianne Wiest and Barbara Hershey. Michael Caine's self-obsessed arse and Allen's health-obsessed worrier are standouts but Farrow's warm creation holds it all together.
