Based on a real-life memoir, the debut feature of documentary director Luigi Falorni follows a 10-year-old girl, Awet, caught up in the Eritrean-Ethiopian conflict. A gripping subject is weakened by cliched set-ups, but the film is redeemed by Letekidan Micael’s stunningly open, truthful performance as Awet.
