Honeymoon In Vegas

3

Dashing off to Las Vegas to marry his girlfriend on the spur of the moment, Jack (Nic Cage) ends up losing her in a poker game to high-roller Tommy (James Caan), who whisks her off to Hawaii. Cue a cross-country chase to win her back...

Never quite as good as you remember it, this 1992 flick – one of Cage’s pre-Leaving Las Vegas stabs at being the leading man – still has a fair amount going for it. The boy Nic is on satisfyingly manic form, Caan is effortlessly menacing and Sarah Jessica Parker – as the girlfriend getting no sex in a very different city – provides the requisite eye candy.

That said, it’d be a forgotten movie that no-one would rush to re-release if it weren’t for one genius moment. And that is? When Cage and a troop of skydivers dressed as Elvis all tumble to earth in light-up jump suits above the Vegas strip. Uh-huh-huh...

Thank you very much.
