
Director DJ Ca ruso’s promise of “more fun than Twilight” doesn’t bear fruit until the last half hour of his Pittacus Lore adaptation.
The rest of this sci-fi teen-rom actioner sulks squarely between Twilight and Smallville: super-powered alien hottie Alex Pettyfer hides in Dullsville, falls for human hottie Dianna Agron, much moping follows.
The leads are likeable, the no-burn pacing and whiff of reheated hit formula less so.
Thankfully, Teresa Palmer’s supergirl, camp nasties the Mogadorians and a kick-ass hound boot the film up its jacksy in a late blast of FX fun.
