I Am Number Four

Demon actioner aimed squarely at a teen audience

I Am Number Four review

Director DJ Ca ruso’s promise of “more fun than Twilight” doesn’t bear fruit until the last half hour of his Pittacus Lore adaptation.

The rest of this sci-fi teen-rom actioner sulks squarely between Twilight and Smallville: super-powered alien hottie Alex Pettyfer hides in Dullsville, falls for human hottie Dianna Agron, much moping follows.

The leads are likeable, the no-burn pacing and whiff of reheated hit formula less so.

Thankfully, Teresa Palmer’s supergirl, camp nasties the Mogadorians and a kick-ass hound boot the film up its jacksy in a late blast of FX fun.
