I See A Dark Stranger

A fiery Irish girl questions her politics when she meets a British officer...

I See A Dark Stramger review

From the ever-inventive team of Frank Launder and Sidney Gilliat (the original St Trinian’s series) comes this pacy espionage thriller, touching lightly on the fraught history of Anglo-Irish relations.

Deborah Kerr’s the fiery Irish lass, brought up by her Dad to dream of joining the IRA – even if it means helping the Nazi cause. Trevor Howard’s the Brit officer she gets reluctantly involved with.

The politics are a bit cosy, but L&G (who worked with Hitch on The Lady Vanishes) throw in the odd touch worthy of the master.
