It’s Antonioni’s only film with a working-class backdrop, but Il Grido’s characters are no less dour and alienated.
Aldo (American B-movie actor Steve Cochran) learns that Irma (the sad-eyed Alida Valli), the woman he’s lived with for years, loves someone else. Devastated, he wanders off through the misty Po Valley.
He meets other women, but thoughts of Irma haunt him in this bleak classic. Includes deleted footage and hefty booklet.
