Into The Blue (15)

"It's about the complexities of life," says director John Stockwell, in featurette Diving Deeper Into The Blue. That he manages to utter this little chestnut with not so much as a smirk should earn the guy an Oscar. Into The Blue, of course, has nothing whatsoever to do with the complexities of life, but rather more Jessica Alba's pert bottom squeezed into a tiny bikini. And sharks. Lots of sharks.

A sexed-and-coked-up The Deep, Stockwell's salty thriller boasts some truly astonishing underwater camerawork - Alba, Paul Walker, Ashley Scott and Scott Caan interacting with toothy nature to an extent that must have given their publicists palpitations. Then there are some decent scraps, ever more minimalist underwear and a script packed with hilariously fruity one-liners, not least the now legendary, "Shut up, you coke-whore!"

The package itself, including screen-tests and a so-so commentary from Stockwell, will hardly set your world alight, but it's hard to think of a recent popcorner whose colourful visuals are better suited to the home experience - and, no, not entirely for the obvious reasons.
