Juice

1

Dated but sonically sound tale of gun crime in the states

Released between Boyz N The Hood and Menace II Society, Juice lacked the cultural impact of either and remains forgotten except by a handful who still worship the soundtrack.

Twenty years on, despite a standout turn from Tupac, its already limited shelf life has stagnated.

Desperately dated by Reebok hi-tops and 16bit arcade games, its tale of good kids whose lives are changed by a gun is ponderously slow.

We’re past halfway before something significant happens, resulting in a film with a more compelling narrative in the title track than the script.
