Shot in colour, then transferred on to stark, contrast-heavy monochrome, this remastered print finally does justice to one of the best-looking films of the '90s. But it's the performances that truly shine in Mathieu Kassovitz's incendiary masterpiece. ""Restless youth"," sneers an adult after our heroes tussle in an art gallery. The French government weren't so dismissive, though, allegedly advising Cabinet members to study the film and learn about inner-city multiculturalism.
