Mars Needs Moms

2

Alien animation makes kids appreciate their mums. Well, that's the plan.

Mars Needs Moms review

Hey kids! Wanna see a cartoon rooted in abandonment anxiety?

Sadly, it’s not hard to suss why Mars was left in the red at the box office.

The high-tech backdrops may razzle and dazzle, but this is more wallpaper than Wall-E, with little to involve or amuse as nine-year-old Milo (a mo-capped Seth Green) hurtles around (and around…) the Martian underground in search of his kidnapped old dear (Joan Cusack).

Like 2002’s Time Machine, director Simon Wells has some of the art but none of the soul to compete with great-granddaddy H.G.
