Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster

4

In a year dominated by politics, Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster was the only doc to rock. Part fly-on-the-wall, part real-life answer to This Is Spinal Tap, Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky's unintentional rib-tickler follows the creatively blocked group backstage and into the back of their crania after they hire a $40,000-a-month "performance-enhancement coach".

The results aren't pretty as bickering, rehab and po-faced, irony-free concerns about the effect of all this touchy-feely therapy on their art ensue: ""We're trying to make aggressive and fucked-up music without negative energy!"" Priceless.
