Middle Men is an attempt to mount a Scorsese-does-porn epic.
One problem: Paul Thomas Anderson got there first with the vastly superior Boogie Nights.
Luke Wilson stars as a well-meaning family man who, during the internet’s ’90s adolescence, runs into some hapless brothers with the secret to making morally compromised millions from grot.
But Wilson’s just too bland to carry such a potentially interesting character, and the Goodfellas-aping voiceover is too keen to tell rather than show.
