Mission: Impossible

3

Framed for the deaths of his espionage team, IMF operative Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) recruits some help (Ving Rhames, Emmanuelle Beart) and sets out to discover the identity of the mole, while also dodging government agents. After John Woo's hi-octane sequel, you'll probably find Brian De Palma's original far slower and more complicated. But at least he bothered to include a plot.

DVD Extras:

Theatrical trailer. A golden opportunity for a decent DVD has been missed here. This passable blockbuster could have been packaged with a director's audio commentary and a set of cast-and-crew interviews, while there was surely enough material to warrant documentary features (how about a TV show/movie comparison?). Instead, for merely the movie and a (yawn) trailer, the disc's asking price is a cheat rather than a steal.
