Four friends dabble in affairs, grief and lesbianism in this six-hour BBC mini-series, which is a little bit Sex And The City, a little bit Doctors and a little bit good, actually. As one of the four titular mistresses, Sarah Cutting It Parish reels in her usual loopy, leery routine to deliver something considered and affecting, while Sharon Small as Trudi shoulders much of the heavy emotion (as well as providing goofy comic relief). A struggling widow of 9/11, hers is the most absorbing, heart-wrenching storyline.
