Mother Of Tears

Dario Argento’s loooong-awaited finale to the Three Mothers Trilogy could only disappoint when parts I and II are Suspiria and Inferno, two of the maddest, baddest horror movies ever. Even so, his decision to jettison their glaring colours and blaring sounds imposes an unwelcome sanity on a plot that involves demons, a mad monkey, breasts and Moran Atias’ superwitch. The energy’s high and the gore, in places, delights, but that’s your lot.
