Mrs Doubtfire

3

Robin Williams dressed as an old Scottish housekeeper and keeping the clowning to an acceptable level? Yes, of course it ends in pure schmaltz, but Williams and director Chris Columbus beat an entertaining path to the not-as-predictable-as-you'd-think happy ending. But if your idea of hell is a nauseatingly cute kid, then Warning: Film Contains Mara Wilson.

DVD Extras:

Director's commentary, deleted scenes, animation tests, Chuck Jones interview, make-up tests with commentary, interviews and bios.Columbus has plenty to say about the cast and crew, but you wishing he'd found some of them to interact with. As it is, he sounds like a nervous teenager delivering a dull essay in front of his class. The deleted scenes, meanwhile, are fine if you need more Williams, but the highlight is Chuck Jones' witty, refreshing description of how he came up with the animated opening credits sequence.
