My Best Friend

King of the odd-couple comedy Patrice Leconte explores male friendship in this well-tailored Parisian farce. Chilly antiques dealer François (Daniel Auteuil), all business and no buddies, bets he can come up with a best mate in 10 days. When he hires sociable cabbie Dany Boon as a friendship coach, the two develop a strange bond. Like all Leconte’s films, it’s touching and gorgeous to look at but, zut alors!, the quirky, edgy laughs of L’Homme Du Train have dulled to a smug, formulaic titter.
