"Five contestants for reality webcast spend six months in a house for $1 million. If anyone leaves, everyone loses!" Marc Evan's digi-shot chiller starts creepily before veering into trad splatter terror-tory. It's still effective, though: The Haunting meets Big Brother.
DVD Extras:
This is a groundbreaking two-disc package. The conventional extras - - Making Of, commentary -are excellent, but they're only the beginning. In keeping with the movie's webcast theme, disc one includes an interactive option that enables you to view the film as if you were a subscriber to the sinister `Company' site. You can access deleted scenes (also available on disc two), watch competitor auditions and switch cameras on certain scenarios. Most unsettling, however, is the occasional option to listen to the Company workers casually discussing their victims' fate. The audio both enhances and complicates the viewing experience, further implicating the audience in the on-screen brutality. There were a couple of minor technical glitches on our review copy - - and given the first cut of the film was four hours, we would have liked even more extra footage - - but this is still an impressive leap forward in interactive entertainment.
